We Love ... Homelands
Often thought of as the opening of the festival season, which is a terrible slight to the Woodworks’ Festival in Bishops Stortford. Since its inception, Homelands has been a standard bearer for the dance music festival, compelling many imitators to rise up in its wake.

The template was simple; superclub sponsorship, a high volume of superstar DJs playing short sets, slick marketing, excellent production.

In 2003 we have an evolved, modernized Homelands, less reliant on superclub brands and superstar DJs and more focused around quality dance music, as the line up of Groove Armada, The Streets, Chemical Brothers, Kosheen, De la Soul and Audio Bullys testifies. They call it evolution not revolution, but what should be exactly the same as before is the enthusiasm of the 35,000 people converging on the idyllic Matterley Bowl in Winchester for 18 hours of mayhem.
